2001 Silver Oak Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Was $100.00 Sale $89.89
Robert Parker: The Napa Cabernet Sauvignon is more limited in
availability than the Alexander Valley. The 2001 ( 86% Cabernet
Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot) offers a big,
smoky, herb, black currant, tobacco, spice box, and barbecue
spice-scented bouquet, and broad, medium to full-bodied, concentrated,
sweet, jammy flavors with plenty of sexy, toasty American oak in the
background. It is a hedonistic fleshpot of a wine to drink now and over
the next 10-12 years.
2001 Silver Oak Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Was $60.00 Sale $53.89
Robert Parker: The 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley (by
the way, all of the Alexander Valley offerings are 100% Cabernet
Sauvignon) has a big, sweet, oaky nose and a seductive panoply of
spices from cedarwood to plum pudding and fruitcake notes. It is a
sexy, sensual, broad, flavorful Cabernet lacking serious depth, but
offering attractive fruit, plenty of ripeness, and a big wallop of
American oak. Drink it over the next decade.
2002 Twomey (Silver Oak) Napa Valley Merlot Was $65.00 Sale $58.89
Robert Parker 94 Points: Even better than the 2001 is the 2002
Merlot, a blend of 99.4% Merlot and .6% Cabernet Franc. An exotic
perfume of pepper, herbs, black cherries, plums, and raspberries is
accompanied by an exciting texture, a plush, fleshy palate, and a
concentrated, long heady, moderately tannic finish. This wine should
improve over the next 2-3 years and last for 10-14. Very impressive!
This is a top-flight single-vineyard wine aged completely in French
oak, which is in total contrast to the wines made at Silver Oak.
