2005 Tyler Fiddlestix Vineyard Santa Rita Hills Pinot Noir $46.89

This wine displays a feminine elegance in its delicacy and charming red fruit qualities of lavender, tart cherry, and cranberry upon opening. Well integrated tannin and firm structure quickly give one the impression of the pedigree of this great site. After an hour or so in glass or decanter the wine really begins to put on weight. The initial tart cherry gives way to rich, dense dark red notes of black cherry, cola, allspice, and even a hint of chocolate. Again, due to the finished pH of 3.45, this wine should take a couple of years in bottle to really show off all that it has to offer and should cellar well for the next 8 to 10 years. Production: 102 cases

2005 Tyler Dierburg Vineyard Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir $49.89

This wine has a dense, compact nose of dark fruit, Asian spice and citrus that definitely benefits from some air prior to drinking. Aromas of cigar box, orange peel, a subtle hint of wood spice and plum give way to flavors of boysenberry, cassis, and bacon fat. Fruit and tannic structure work in harmony creating a wine of good balance and with a low pH of 3.36, leading me to believe that time in bottle will only add to the density this of this wine. Production: 56 cases
