Dear Wine Lover,

Peter & Betsy Spann have traveled around the world, learning winemaking techniques from both European and California winemakers, to increase the enjoyment of their own Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Sangiovese, Chardonnay, and Viognier.

Peter Spann will be pouring and answering questions both Friday and Saturday!!!

*Winemaker's Tasting Notes*
N.V. Spann Betsy’s Backacher North Coast Red Table Wine $15.99
34% Syrah, 22% Grenache, 22% Cabernet Franc, 11% Merlot, & 11% Cabernet Sauvignon: This intriguing blend of Rhone and Bordeaux grape varieties was originally produced to revive our helpers during harvest and to share with close friends and family.  It’s the ideal “end of the day, kick back and relax” wine, great by itself or when enjoyed with light-to-medium flavored dishes. Production: 290 cases
2004 Spann Mo Zin Sonoma County Zinfandel $19.99
60% Zinfandel, 27% Mourvèdre, & 13% Petite Sirah: This Zinfandel from old vine vineyards is from the Sonoma and Dry Creek Valleys and create a marvelous base of blackberry flavors while the Mourvèdre adds aromas of raspberry and leather plus a palate-coating, meaty/beefy taste. The Petite Sirah adds a touch of spice to this very versatile Rhone-inspired blend.
2002 Spann Sonoma County Syrah $19.99
96% Syrah, 3% Merlot, & 1% Grenache: This Syrah is full flavored, rich and complex without being heavy. Merlot and Grenache were blended in for “middle fatness” and soft tannins. This was aged 24 months in a mix of one to five year old French oak barrels to achieve a mellow, smooth texture without new oak dominating the fruit.
2004 Spann Sonoma Country Chardonnay-Viognier $19.99
67% Chardonnay & 33% Viognier: The aroma and taste are pure Viognier with Chardonnay playing a supporting role. Viognier has voluptuous aromas and flavors of dried apricots and peaches plus a round, rich mouth-feel to which Chardonnay adds crisp acidity to make this a well balanced, food-friendly Viognier.  This wine was barrel fermented and aged for six months in French oak barrels.  We use older barrels because we don’t want new oak to overshadow the naturally wonderful Viognier aroma.
2003 Spann Mayacamas Range 55% Napa & 45% Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon $31.99
96% Cabernet Sauvignon & 4% Merlot: The 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon Mayacamas Range is dark opaque in color and has an attractive spicy black cherry fruit aroma with notes of black pepper. On the palate, it is well structured and offers mouth filling black fruit flavors with hints of toasty oak, good grip and a long lasting finish. Production: 599 cases
2003 Spann Mo Jo Sonoma County Super Tuscan Style $35.99
Sangiovese 32%, Cabernet Sauvignon 31%, Syrah 20%, & Merlot 17%: This wine is like a person.  The Sangiovese is the skeleton, giving great structure. The Cabernet Sauvignon and syrah add some muscle and strength while the Merlot is the skin that smoothes everything out.  Wine writers refer to this blend as a “Super Tuscan” style because it is similar to the top wines from Tuscany. Production: 490 cases
