2004 Ojai Roll Ranch Vineyard Upper Ojai Valley California Syrah
Robert Parker 94 Points: The stunningly full-bodied, rich, opulent, ripe 2004 Syrah Roll Ranch offers lovely aromas of melted licorice, creme de cassis, blackberries, violets, and underbrush. It is deep, full-bodied, velvety-textured, and as always, the most forward and evolved of the Ojai Syrahs. Enjoy it over the next decade or more.
2004 Ojai Melville Santa Rita Hills Santa Barbara County Syrah
Robert Parker 94 Points: From the cool Santa Rita Hills, the 2004 Syrah Melville reveals classic blackberry, blueberry, charcoal, acacia flower, and bacon fat aromas. Stunningly rich, full-bodied, thick, and juicy with a smoky character in the mouth that is not apparent in the fruit-laden nose, this is a beautifully proportioned, full-bodied Syrah that should drink nicely for 10-15 years.
2004 Ojai White Hawk Vineyard Santa Barbara County Syrah
Robert Parker 93 Points: The 2004 Syrah White Hawk exhibits a deep purple color along with notes of mocha, subtle coffee and oak, and oodles of blackberry and black cherry fruit. This wine displays a beautiful full-bodied, powerful, long effort that should become more elegant, refined, and terroir-based in 5-6 years. This knock-out Syrah should drink well young, but age handsomely for a decade or more.
