Dear Wine Lover,

Owner and Winemaker Norm Yost has been making wine for twenty-five years, and has a particular passion for Pinot Noir. Pinot Noir has been known to be temperamental, finicky and unpredictable, but when patiently coaxed can be alluring, delightful and thoroughly enjoyable. Norm's mission for Flying Goat Cellars is to take the snobbishness out of wine and its process, while still paying strict attention to the details. This is wine after all and is supposed to be enjoyable!

2005 Flying Goat Salisbury Vineyard San Luis Obispo County Pinot Noir $33.99
The Salisbury Vineyard is situated near Avila Beach in the Avila Valley, San Luis Obispo County, a scant mile from the Pacific Ocean. A glance at the wine resting in crystal Burgundy wineglass foretells of the elegance and sophistication of this wine. Crimson-colored with maroon edges, this wine glistens with highlights and exuberance! A swirl releases berry notes of strawberry and dried raspberry, a distinctive white-pepper spice and barrel aromas of caramel and smoke. A silky texture delivers additional flavors of cranberry and pomegranate onto the palate. Still youthful, the 2005 Pinot Noir, Salisbury Vineyard has a nice spicy mid-palate grip, lively acids and superb balance. The finish is lingering, with notes of dried currant and red plum rounding out the elegant flavor profile. Production: 199 cases
2005 Flying Goat Dierberg Vineyard Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir $41.99
The 140-acre Dierberg vineyard is located in the rolling hills of Santa Maria Valley, situated on a mesa that is directly impacted by the daily breezes from the nearby Pacific Ocean. This is a bigger, more complex Dierberg designate than in previous Flying Goat releases from this vineyard . A deep ruby hue hints of the dark berry notes in the glass. Aromas of black cherry mingle with hints of coffee and smoke. Medium-bodied, this wine is very concentrated on the mid-palate with dried raspberry flavors joining black cherry, with a hint of leather. There is a lively acidity that plays across the palate, with a persistent finish replete with cedar nuances. The 2005 Dierberg is a “broody” wine, and it is recommended that it be opened and/or decanted before enjoying, to allow it time to open. This is an ageable wine that will continue to soften and integrate with 6-8 years of cellaring. Production: 456 cases
