Stunningly rich, dense ruby/purple, with great purity, loads of black raspberry, pepper, anise, and earthiness, this full-bodied wine is super-rich, long, and pure, with a multi-dimensional mouthfeel and a stunning finish. It is soft, round, with loads of blackberry fruit, some hints of lavender and underbrush, but clearly dominated by the black side of the fruit spectrum. This wine should drink well for 5-7 years.

2006 Carlisle Pelkan Ranch Knights Valley Syrah

Very dark ruby-purple. Aromas of blackberry and Satsuma plum with suggestions of Jujubes, tar, meat, and vanilla. A wonderful sniff! Full-bodied but not at all fat due to the mountain-grown tannins. Really blossoms texturally on day two, an indication of the good things to come. Drink this age-worthy wine from 2010 through 2020.
