Dear
Wine Lover,
Wine Spectator and Robert
Parker both love Lagier Meredeth Syrahs and here’s your chance to get your
hands on these highly acclaimed wines for a spectacular price.
2003
Robert Parker 93 Points: An incredible bouquet of flowers and
mountain berry fruit could easily be mistaken for a new Chanel perfume. Dark
ruby/purple in color, with hints of licorice, violets, blueberries,
blackberries and cassis, this 2003 Syrah boasts medium to full-bodied, elegant,
pure flavors that cascade over the palate with a multilayered silkiness.
Nothing is out of place in this beautiful, complex, relatively evolved style of
Syrah. Consume it over the next 5-6 years. A natural beauty!
Wine Spectator 92 Points: Fragrant aromas of cracked pepper,
wild berry, plum and pretty floral scents give this a complex bouquet. The
flavors fold over onto the palate, offering intensity, richness and depth with
an underlying sense of elegance and restraint, with a gravelly, stony edge. Best from 2007 through 2012. (JL)
2002
Robert Parker 92 Points: This poised, elegant Syrah reveals
subtle but intense aromas of camphor, blackberries, cassis, and earthy forest
floor. It builds incrementally, exhibiting good richness, power, purity, and
integration of wood, acidity, alcohol, and tannin. An impressively endowed,
authoritatively flavored, noble expression of Syrah with subtle nuances, it
should be consumed over the next 5-7 years. I also admired the wording on the
back label ... “protected from too much winemaking.”
Wine Spectator 93 Points: This noteworthy Syrah combines ripe,
zesty wild berry, blackberry, white pepper and herbs with beef, cherry, plum
and nutmeg scents that are both rich and intense yet
delicately balanced, ending with a mix of fleshy suppleness and ripe,
integrated tannins. Best from 2006 through 2012. 550
cases made. (JL)
2001
Robert Parker 90 Points: Although closed, this 2001 (from a
4-acre, east-facing vineyard on
Wine Spectator 93 Points: Tightly wound and firmly
concentrated, it opens up to unveil a wealth of rich, exotic spices, with beefy
bay leaf, earth and mineral scents to a dense, chewy core of beefy currant,
blackberry and new leather, finishing with espresso, mocha and vanilla flavors
that make it quite enticing. It should only get better in the next year. Best from 2005 through 2012. 430 cases made. (JL)
2000
Robert Parker 91 Points: Although
closed, this 2001 (from a 4-acre, east-facing vineyard on
Wine Spectator 93 Points: Dark, rich, intense and plush given
its size and density of flavor, serving up a tight core of currant, plum,
mineral, white pepper, sage and blackberry fruit. Amazing vibrancy and vitality to the fruit flavors. Tannins
are substantial, too. Best from 2004 through 2012. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 307 cases made. (JL)
