Dear Wine Lover,

Owner and Winemaker Kent Humphrey uses prestigious vineyards in the Russian River Valley for his Pinot Noir, Bennett Valley and Dry Creek Valley for his three different Syrahs, and makes Chardonnays from both Sonoma Coast and the Russian River Valley. The Winemaker’s sister Renee will be pouring and answering questions on Saturday.

*Winemaker's Tasting Notes*
2005 Eric Kent Wine Cellars Dry Creek Valley Sonoma Syrah $35.99
We’ve always enjoyed deep, dark color on our Syrah and this wine is no exception. Our first Dry Creek Valley offering displays beautiful fruit and spice draped over a full yet surprisingly well proportioned body. Aromas of dark cherry, black pepper, cinnamon and smoked bacon are followed by a mix of blackberry, pomegranate and chocolate on the palate. A combination of strength and finesse, this youngster knows how to impress already. Give it just a bit of time (say, 6 months or so from release) and it will parade both style and flair at any dinner table or party. Then watch it develop into beautiful maturity over the next 3-5 years. Production: 125 cases
2005 Eric Kent Wine Cellars Stiling Vineyard Russian River Pinot Noir $49.99 limited
Our ‘05 Stiling Vineyard Pinot Noir is a beautiful example of this magnificent cooler vintage – bright and showy fruit supported by wonderful natural acidity offering balance and great potential for graceful aging. The nose is redolent of ripe cherries, rhubarb and rose petals with a touch of truffle, followed by cherry, dried cranberry and blackberry on the palate finishing with hints of green tea and black olives. Exuberant and richly flavored, yet refined and well delineated from the first sniff to the last drop. We're already savoring our first bottles, but look forward to trying one every 6 months over the next 6-8 years. Production: 299 cases

2005 Eric Kent Wine Cellars Sonoma Coast Chardonnay $34.99
Both in aroma and flavor, this rich and full-bodied Chardonnay is an easy crowd pleaser. But don’t let that fool you — it’s got much more than shiny chrome and a nice paint job. Pop open the hood and you’ll discover lively lemon-lime, custard and butterscotch that promise a bright and smooth ride from start to finish. What about acidity? We’re happy to report that you’ll find a crisp streak of the blessed stuff to lure you from one sip to the next. Production: 225 cases
2005 Eric Kent Wine Cellars Russian River Valley Chardonnay $35.99
A golden straw in color, the 2005 vintage layers exotic spice and floral notes on top of a crisp green apple and minerality on the nose. Then the palate takes over with full flavors of honeydew melon and tangerine leading to a hint of hazelnut to round out the long finish. Bright acidity buoys the entire ensemble and keeps it lively throughout. Only in the background (where it belongs) does tight-grained French oak provide structural support that knits the entire package together. Delicious now, this Chardonnay should just get better and better over the next couple of years. Production: 249 cases
2004 Eric Kent Wine Cellars Kalen’s Big Boy Blend Sonoma County Syrah $34.99
Get ready for a party, because that’s what this wine is all about. Blended in honor of Kent's son who is a glorious handful with his big personality and winning smile, this Syrah is a celebration of rich fruit, spice, heft, plus a smidge of silliness thrown in for balance. Black cherry, black pepper, cinnamon and smoked meats define this wine’s protruding proboscis, followed by more black cherry, pomegranate and dark chocolate on the palate. As for color, you could paint a house in one quick coat with this stuff. A nose and mouth-filling wine with a touch of game on the finish reminds you that you’re drinking a Syrah. If you like your wine bold and ready to go, this wine is drinking great now, but can be enjoyed later. This wine is for all you fruit forward fans out their. It’s not called “Big Boy Blend” for nothing! Production: 175 cases
2004 Eric Kent Wine Cellars Dry Stack Vineyard Bennett Valley Syrah $35.99
This wine shows complex aromas of rhubarb, plum, baked earth, aged beef and iron are followed by a red cherry and blueberry tango on the tongue, intermingled with fire roasted tomato and a hint of tar that balance the fruit and keep this one proud of its cool-climate heritage. What about color? Dark and dark; nuff said. Showing both exuberance and restraint, it drinks well now but should continue to improve over the next few years. Production: 119 cases
